PAION is a publicly listed specialty pharmaceutical company developing and aiming to commercialize innovative drugs for out-patient and hospital-based sedation, anesthesia and critical care services.
PAION’s lead compound is remimazolam, an intravenous, ultra-short-acting and controllable benzodiazepine sedative/anesthetic. Remimazolam is partnered in multiple territories outside of Europe. In Japan, remimazolam was approved for general anesthesia in January 2020. In the U.S., a New Drug Application (NDA) for procedural sedation is under review, with a PDUFA date of 5 July 2020. In China, licensee Yichang Humanwell filed for market approval for remimazolam in procedural sedation in November 2018 and in South Korea, licensee Hana Pharm filed for market approval for remimazolam in general anesthesia in December 2019.

In Europe, PAION is seeking approval of remimazolam for general anesthesia and for procedural sedation. PAION submitted a Marketing Authorization Application (MAA) for procedural sedation in November 2019. Results of a Phase III trial in general anesthesia are expected in the second half of 2020.

For our team in Aachen we are currently searching for an

IT System and Solution Manager (m/f/d)

to join us in an exciting time for IT and Digital at PAION where many interesting and challenging projects are ahead of us and with the goal of transforming PAION’s IT into a real business-enabling partner to support long-lasting business success.

Your tasks & responsibilities:

  • Ensures IT Services meet functional objectives of the business and committed Service Levels
  • Ensures quality, optimal work and support of PAION’s Information Technology Operations
  • Manages multiple servers, workstations, ensuring proper integration of these components with existing computer systems
  • Manages and develops PAIONs IT infrastructure and Cloud environments
  • Installs and debugs new and/or upgraded software on server and client platforms, ensuring compliance with current site licenses; designs, programs, and manages websites and associated pages
  • Troubleshoots networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational problems
  • Leads troubleshooting for the resolution of incidents in the Service Desk
  • As key member of project teams, manages tasks and projects. Measures progress against milestones and agreed upon timelines and evaluates performance against the project’s goals. Actively drives projects to success and meeting the defined objectives.
  • Manages external consultant partners and ensures quality of work provided from other external resources.
  • Supports evaluation and deployment of effective technologies to maintain PAION‘s lT infrastructure
  • Ensures security and dependability of all computer systems at PAION including password / ID management
  • Ensures compliance with corporate standard operating procedures (SOPs), ICH and other instructions and makes sure these are maintained, updated and performs documentation activities for new systems according to GxP regulations
  • Actively contributes to vendor management by managing vendors to the defined objectives within operations as well as project engagement as a lead function for developing and implementing IT infrastructure services.
  • Provides on-call technical and procedural support to various users/client organizations regarding specific operational/applications issues
  • Researches, evaluates, initiates purchases, installs, configures, and troubleshoots all hardware, peripherals, and equipment necessary to meet integrated systems objectives
  • Maintains a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems

Your profile:

  • 6-10 years professional experience
  • Long-standing experience as an IT administrator
  • Experience with outsourced activities (managing an IT service provider)
  • Fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • Interpersonal, influencing and listening skills
  • Conceptual and organizationally strong, solution-oriented with complex and analytical thinking
  • High level of communication skills, Initiative and teamwork

Required skills

  • Five years deploying, managing and supporting Windows Client and Server Operating Systems (Windows Server 2012 R2 / Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2016, 2019, Windows 8, Windows 10)
  • Five to ten years deploying, managing and supporting Active Directory
  • Five to ten years deploying, managing and supporting Application Server Systems (SQL Server 2008 – 2014)
  • Five to seven years supporting enterprise computing platforms and systems (e.g. Navision/ SharePoint 2007-2013 / F-Secure / BioMedion DMS / Exchange 2010 and newer / Remote Desktop Services / SecureGuard Firewall)
  • Two to Five years supporting networking infrastructure (Dell, Cisco or other enterprise standard hardware and software)
  • Two years supporting cloud “as a service” offerings
  • Experience working with Microsoft Azure and Office 365
  • Five years managing external contractors and vendors
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server technologies.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Active directory
  • Good understanding of IT Infrastructure technologies available and experience as System Administrator.

Desired skills

  • Experience working in a regulated environment, Pharmaceutical Industry is a plus
  • ITIL Certification and practical working experience in an ITIL environment
  • Project management experience
  • Good knowledge of Hyper-V server virtualization technologies.
  • Working experience in an international environment
  • Practical development or scripting experience using PowerShell, VBScript, JavaScript, and/or equivalents is a plus
